Thank you so much for partnering with me month in and month out to see the good news about Jesus shared with the world. It truly is an honor to have you giving and I honor you and your giving!
Earlier last month, I said a lot of goodbyes to friends, family, and students. My last weeks in Greenville were spent sharing with students what I’m doing and where I’m going! Having trusted friends and adults locally is such a blessing and I know I am leaving these students in good hands.
My church elders laid hands on me and commissioned me out as a missionary. It was such a powerful, affirming, and encouraging time. Having the blessing of my local church of 19 years is special!
I also made it safely to Kona and through my first week at the YWAM global missions base!
Going from living by myself in a 2 bedroom apt, to living in a room with 10 guys, 1/4 bathroom, 3 dressers, and no A/C has been really different and helpful in my growth as a disciple of Jesus and a missionary. We have to bear with one another, share pretty much everything, and put others before ourselves. It has been challenging, fun, and glorious.
Our typical schedule in Kona is 8am-5pm.
Our day starts with intercession for different nations around the world, then we have our main class session, then we have lunch, then we have work duty, then dinner, then bed. YWAM is big on hands on experience. A lot of discipleship happens in doing and serving. My biggest takeaway so far is that one of the best ways to grow into the character of Jesus is through service and sacrifice over and over. I can already tell that 6 months of this is going to set a standard of Christlikeness for me for the future. Everything we’ve been learning, we are implementing locally because we are missionaries wherever God places us!
Please pray for me that in these next 6 months that God would make it clear to me on how he wants me to partner with YWAM and what kind of impact he wants me to have locally and in the nations with young people.
Philippians 1:3-5
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 2:8
So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
